After some Thai products and a few Korean ones, we're moving forward once again. This Royal Family Marsmallow Daifuku Sesame Mochi is a product of Taiwan. I'm sort of taking you around the world, guys. 😂
I got it from a Shopee store for a fairly reasonable price.
A 120 g pack contains 9 individually wrapped pieces.
Aside from the the brand, product name, flavor and image, the country of origin and net weight are also indicated on the front of the pack.
At the back, the usual details such as the ingredients and nutrition facts are present. The distributor and importer are also stated and so is the expiry date. I also appreciate how they clearly stated that this product is non-vegetarian.
The individual wrappers mimic the colors and design of the pack nicely. They opt not to repeat the details that are already on the pack.
I actually like the pattern at the back of the wrappers. I think it looks elegant and that it adds a bit of character and taste.
The mochi itself has a soft, plushy, squishy outer consistency that bounces back to its form. It's actually really fun to touch. The sesame filling inside is made finer and more even, but it is still pretty textured. I actually like that there's a bit of contrast between the two. It adds dimension. There seems to be a thin layer of mallow between the two, as well.
It doesn't have any scent to me.
The outer part has the taste of regular rice cake. The filling has that natural, soft taste of sesame. It doesn't taste like an added or synthetic flavoring. It's not too strong and overwhelming. Aside from a slight mallow taste, it's also not that sweet. It actually reminds me of buchi since it is a sesame variant.
All in all, I think this mochi is fine. It's soft, chewy and yummy. Though, I still don't think it's the best or the most special mochi.
Until next time!
