What I Say: Taste Beauty Baked Smores Lip Balm

This time around, it is a product that I featured in my latest haul. It is a bit scent related, too. You'll know why in a sec.

I'm not really familiar with the brand Taste Beauty. Honestly, this is my first time to encounter it. So, I did my own research and found out that it's a brand that offers lip balms in tons of different cute packaging and yummy flavors. The brand, founded in 2015, is located in New York.

They usually partner with different brands of cereals, chocolates, candies, shows and the likes. The one that I have is part of the collection partnered with Mason jars. They come in different flavors such as Fresh Pumpkin Pie, Citrus, Fruit Salad, Red Velvet and many more. Mine is in Baked Smores.

I got it from Robinson's Supermarket for 79 Php. Pretty affordable for a lip balm, I must say. Most lip balms are worth a hundred and up.

Taste Beauty lip balms are made in China, but they are not tested on animals, which is great. They are also gluten free.

The photo above shows the list of ingredients. It is mineral oil based. Nowadays, some people are wary of such oil. However, there's no clear answer whether it is harmful or not. Famous products, such as petroleum jelly from brands like Vaseline and Apollo are made from mineral oil.

Based on some reports, mineral oil does not actually provide extra moisture. It only creates a barrier to trap the natural moisture of the skin. Despite that, I actually find this lip balm moisturizing and also healing. It takes good care of my chapped lips. Maybe it's due to the other ingredients in the list. I'm no expert, so I'm not really sure. All I can say is that it performs the job of a lip balm fairly well.

It's a good basic lip balm. It doesn't provide any color and most importantly, any type of glitter or shimmer. It just has a bit of a sheen and that's it. It is not sticky. It's also far from oily.

What I love the most about this product is its packaging. Isn't it the cutest? The bottom part is twistable. You can move it up and down easily. It doesn't get stuck. It's also very sanitary, no finger dipping needed.

The last thing that I'm going to talk about is its flavor. Truth be told, instead of "flavored lip balm", I think it should be "scented lip balm". Even the line "smiles you can taste" is a bit misleading. It doesn't actually taste like anything. It does smell like baked smores, but it has the traditional lipstick scent as its undertone. That, to me, is a downside.

The one I gave to Chloe, which is in Red Velvet, doesn't have a taste, too. It smells better than my Baked Smores, but even my younger sister complained a little about the traditional lipstick scent undertone.

It has its good and bad qualities. I guess it deserves an average rating. It's not the worst lip balm that I've tried. Even though I'm not sure if I will still use it due to my sensitivity and pickiness to scents, I will surely keep it for its cuteness and display it on my vanity table. ;)

  2. I bought it just today. I searched for any review on this because yes, it looks cute but I'm not sure if this is safe. Good thing I saw your post, I didn't know that I can twist the bottom part.
