You've probably already seen this Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask here before. I featured it in one of my Korean hauls a few months ago. Today, I intend to talk more about it and to also let you know if what I stated about it before still holds true.
I purchased this product from GlowgetterMNL. Check them out on Shopee. They offer a bunch of interesting Korean products.
The one that I have here is only a mini or sample version. This little, cute, travel-friendly tub contains 10 mL of product. I got it for around 100 Php. I wanted to get a feel of the product first and see how I like it before going for the full sized one that contains 60 mL and retails for around 1000 Php.
Anyway, this small plastic tub is pretty efficient. It's not cheap or flimsy. I have no issues with it.
The brand and product name are on the front. While other useful details such as the product description, net weight and country of origin are on the back.
The batch code and expiry date are down under.
The product itself is white in color and it has a subtle scent. The scent is a bit on the green and floral side to me. It's very light and in no way repulsive.
The texture of this mask is not that thick and heavy. It's actually rather soft, light and fluffy. It reminds me of a souffle.
A little amount of this product goes a really long way. Everytime I use it, I only apply four dots on my face: one on my forehead, on each of my cheeks and on my chin. I, then, spread the product all over. That technique tends to do the job. Also, I only use this mask once a week, only on the days that I do some hardcore exfoliation. My small tub is, in fact, still more than halfway full.
It takes a while to get absorbed. It actually stays on top of the skin for quite some time. Fortunately, it doesn't feel heavy nor sticky. It makes the skin look extremely dewy. I don't want to use the word greasy since it doesn't feel that way.
I really think that it's a great seal or product to use lastly on your nighttime skincare routine. I feel like it holds everything in, protects the skin from outside factors or irritants and also deeply nourishes the skin all at the same time.
This sleeping mask has some really interesting ingredients. The best known one is Forest Yeast or a patented cica. It also contains squalene, shea and tea tree. Compared to other Laneige sleeping masks, I think this one has the best, healthiest and most interesting list of ingredients. Here's the full list from Laneige's website:
WATER / AQUA / EAU, PROPANEDIOL, CETYL ETHYLHEXANOATE, SQUALANE, HYDROGENATED POLY(C6-14 OLEFIN), GLYCERIN, PANTHENOL, CETEARYLALCOHOL, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER, GLYCERYL STEARATE CITRATE, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, POLYGLYCERYL-3 METHYLGLUCOSE DISTEARATE, POLYGLYCERYL-10 STEARATE, HYDROXYETHYLACRYLATE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATECOPOLYMER, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, ACRYLATES/C10-30ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, GLYCERYL CAPRYLATE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, DISODIUM EDTA, ASIATICOSIDE, MADECASSIC ACID, SORBITAN ISOSTEARATE, ASIATIC ACID, MELALEUCA ALTERNIFOLIA (TEA TREE) LEAF OIL, AUREOBASIDIUM PULLULANSFERMENT, CHAMAECYPARIS OBTUSA LEAF EXTRACT, CYMBOPOGON MARTINI OIL, TOCOPHEROL
It claims to be suitable for all skin types. I think that claim is true. It heals and deeply nourishes my dry spots. Despite that, it is not heavy and so I can definitely see it working even for those with oily skin.
Aside from those effects, I also truly believe that it effectively strengthens the skin barrier. It makes my skin less susceptible to irritation and blemishes.
All in all, I really like this product. I think it is a good sleeping mask. I can see myself purchasing a bigger tub in the future. At the same time, I'm also looking forward to try other cica products. It has surely become one of my favourite ingredients.
Until next time!
